The chignon is back in style, either of to the side, ala Scarlett Johannsen, or as a feature at the centre back of the nape.
Hair is either softly pulled back from pre-curled and twisted waves, or sleek and simple, sometimes with a few strands left loose to flatter the face.
The chignon is glamorous, stylish, (practical in Wellington wind!) and can be accented with fresh or silk flowers, barrettes, crystal or pearl pins, with the veil simply pinned in above it.
Loose waves and curls are still ever popular, However I recommend for Wellington’s unpredictable weather that having some of the style pinned up is always a good option!
Makeup is predominantly soft browns and gentle shimmers for warm toned brides, with gently glowing apricot hued cheeks; and natural but defined glossy lips to complete the look.
Cool toned brides are wearing soft lilacs and cool grey browns on the eyes, often with a soft smoky effect. Cheeks are crème pink tones, with lips sometimes a little stronger and more defined (a la retro glamour) than their warm based cousins.

Phew! What a busy Wedding season 2009-2010 is!
Sadly I have had to turn away countless brides for some of the most popular days, it certainly pays to book ahead!
I would now like to take the opportunity share with you some of the bridal trends and looks I am working with this season.
Bridal Hair and Makeup Trends 2009-2010
The Summer wedding season is in full swing for me, with hair and makeup for late Spring weddings and last minute trials for weddings in the first quarter of next year.
Some interesting trends are emerging, of course influenced by celebrity looks from red carpet events, and Bridal high fashion from around the globe.

Vidal Sassoon, head honcho of the haircut, passed away today at 84. He was one of the most respected stylists in the industry and took the beauty world by storm with his architectural hair shapes. I lived for the dusky, shiny locks he tended to in his '80s commercials.
I used to scream to my mother that I needed Vidal Sassoon everything. RIP, Vidal.
